This first week of the New Year, as we continue dreaming and designing our home on the lake, we are going to take a look at some ideas to inspire our own Bunk Room.
This Blog was originally started so I could take you with me on my journey as we custom build our dream home. So once a week, I will be posting inspiration, ideas, tips, tricks and more as my husband and I press forward on this massive project. I hope you will comment and enjoy the journey with us. We are glad to have your advice and opinions along the way!
This is the first in The Dream Home Planner Series. For more issues, please check the links at the bottom of the post.
Bunk Rooms Keep Them Coming Back!
The idea of the bunk room for us is a place where our grandchildren will be able to stay together yet separate in one large room. Grandchildren can multiply quickly! At this time we only have one, but we have 3 children and if they each had 3, well you get the idea. We have friends who are at 9 already.
We love to hang out together as a family. Our family plays games, has quirky traditions and this year we are going to try camping together! But the reality is you would never have bedrooms enough for parents and children all to have separate quarters. So the Bunk Room is a grand idea.
I love it because the kids will feel like they are on holiday which is what it should feel like when you are staying at Dovie and Pops (Grandma and Grandpa’s)! We also want it to be a place that they can hang out in and play as well. As they grow, it will still work out well into the teen years.
Our Bunk Room Vision
We see a large room with bunks built in on 3 walls if needed. We have not yet decided how many beds we will go for. Our vision includes an airy light colored room that is bright with large windows. A media area with seating perhaps bean bags on the floor will be a great place for movies and video games giving them their own place to hang out and play.
The inspiration photos I have selected for this post are ones that speak to that vision. Some may have only one detail that really wows me, while others offer a feel that compliments our vision.
There are many, many more ideas in lodge style and dark wood and they are gorgeous, but as this is the journey to help us pick our dream home, I have to stay focused as hard as it is on just the style we are looking at.
Enjoy the Bunk Room Inspiration!
This Bunk Room is styled to shine! The moldings add to the rich character. Bookcases at the foot of each bed for storage. Individual lighting, a little decor and curtains to pull for privacy make these bunks something an adult may be wanting to snuggle up in.
The kids will feel so special in this room. Similar style as most but the color, trim and boards along with the windows make this custom built bunk wall fabulous!
