My imagination shows a spring day with all of the flowers in bloom and I have this “victory garden” that just draws you in. My little black iron gate is swung open and you have come down the stone path to stop in and say hello. Perhaps you get a whiff of some jasmine tea brewing as you are welcomed by my sweet little Japanese Chins…Bebe and Buster. Come on in and have a seat, let’s get to know each other.
I miss those days.
Depending on your age you may or may not remember days gone by when you would get a knock on the door in the middle of the day and it wasn’t a salesperson or a delivery but a neighbor or friend who was just passing by. We welcomed them in and despite the state of our home or how busy we were, we took the time to chat and catch up.
So, now it is a virtual garden and door and virtual friends and I am eager to get to know you and make new friends that I could have never imagined since we aren’t even in the same state or country!
Come on in, I’ll tell you a little bit about me…
my first memory (and once I locate my external CD drive, I will load a picture) was me sitting on our front porch in the summer. I had just glued two red rose petals to my drawing paper and drew a lady as though the petals were her skirt. As I sat there admiring it, my Mom came out of the front door to see what I was doing. She said “you must be an artist.” How exciting at 3 or 4 years old to be told such news! The seed was planted.
I had a nickname growing up that my kindergarten bus driver first gave me and it stuck. “Smiley.”
That accurately describes my outlook on life…I am definitely living on the Sunny Side of the Street and I love it here.
Later on as a Senior in Highschool I was voted “Best Smile” out of over 750 students. Now I can’t imagine why~ Lots of people smile and I was not a spectacular beauty, but I did smile a lot because I was pretty happy.
One other Senior Award I co-earned was “Cutest Couple” and my teammate in that award is now my husband. I have been blessed to enjoy the majority of my life’s years living and loving life with my best friend. Hmm…just came to my mind, he is a Dentist and I was known for my Smile, makes you wonder!
I’m Mom to 3 great Adult children and Mom-in-law to 1 and a half. We are excitedly awaiting the birth of our first GrandBaby this coming August. And as I just hinted at, we will be having a wedding in the next year as well. I get to help with the Nursery plan and design and my daughter is happy to share the transformation as we go with all of you. Once we get a date on my son’s wedding, I will include you all in that too since we all love weddings.
I love Hats. Seriously.
I’ve worn many different hats in my years…RN, American Red Cross Volunteer, Concert Promoter, Desktop Publishing, Songwriter, Singer, Conference Speaker, Expressive Worship Dancer,
Interior Decorator, Home Stager, Realtor, Vacation Rental Owner and Operator to name a few…and now Blogger!
Actually I still wear several of those Hats, just none of them full-time.
I went through something very difficult about 20 years ago that truly changed my life. I am eager to share how this experience impacted my life, character, compassion and purpose in life. I’ve always wanted to write about it and hopefully this will be my first e-book coming in June of 2016.
I am very new to this (Blogging) even though I have tried it before. I have so much to learn and I thank you for being patient in advance as I learn all of the aspects involved in doing it well. I bought several books, read lots of posts and finally just had to take the leap! I welcome your suggestions and tips. Without the many bloggers out there who generously offer their tips, tutorials, and encouragement I would not have tried this again. I look forward to the time when I will be able to give others new to blogging the same encouragement and sharing of my sources and personal experiences.
Oh and the hopelessly hopeful description about me as a blogger, well that is my perspective on life. No matter how many times I am not able to accomplish what I set out to, I have this inner hope that it will happen and I just need to give it another try. I can’t imagine what it would be like to just give up on a dream and not keep pursuing it. Sometimes the longer we wait for a dream or goal to be accomplished the attaining of it is worth so much more to us because of the cost. So, here I am again hoping for this blog to get more than 2 comments in 4 months like the one I tried about 4 years ago.
Now, let’s warm up the tea and you tell me a little bit about you!
Can’t wait to hear from you,
