As I was doing some Spring cleaning, I glanced out the window and there are dead branches everywhere. There are also leaves, despite bags and bags collected this past fall, it looks like our yard needs some Spring cleaning too!
But what if the tree refused to lose its leaves or it held on for dear life to its branches even though they were dead?
It is true that a dead branch laying on the ground will not be able to grow a new tree. It is useless now. No leaves, no flowers, no fruit. But the branches that remain on the tree that are allowing the nourishment from the trunk to course through the branch, it is alive and thriving. It will produce blooms, leaves, fruit and even small shoots of branches will come off of it.
This time of year is a time for not just Spring Cleaning our homes, but our hearts, our habits, and our choices.
It is a time to let the old die off and embrace the new. Clean out the closets, drawers and every space that hides your sin. Let us try to live a life that is alive and bears good fruit.
